Each year, there is an increase of homelessness, poverty and hardship for many Australians.
There is a large number of women continuously subject to domestic violence and abuse.
There are numerous instances of barbaric acts toward animals around the world.
At The Coaching Institute, we are passionate about the above causes and deeply care for the welfare of the community. We do our bit to bring a share of playfulness, joy, fun and laughter, so people are able to explore their potential, and achieve their own version of excellence.
Over the years, we have demonstrated this care through supporting various causes and charity organisations such as The Sacred Heart Mission, Animals Asia, Maasai Education and Stepping Stones Nigeria – all of this through The Coaching Institute Foundation.
All great ideas have humble beginnings. Back in 2008, The Coaching Institute Foundation was started by Sharon Pearson to enable TCI and its student community to take profits from the business and put them into worthwhile causes.
Since then, The Coaching Institute Foundation has been providing actual resources rather than money, such as blankets for one group, a school bus for another, or access to a doctor’s services for yet another group. Most of these groups are organisations that don’t get enough support, for one reason or another.
With the Stepping Stones Nigeria group, which supports children made orphans by being accused of being “witches”, the Foundation supports educational drives to teach the villagers about weather patterns, so they realise their children are not the cause of bad crops.
With Animals Asia, “Since 2010, The Coaching Institute Foundation has consistently donated funds needed … to remove a significant number of bears from cruelty and [the Foundation] continues to help raise awareness of the horrors of bear bile farming in China and Vietnam.”
With Sacred Heart Mission, “The Coaching Institute Foundation has donated goods … over a number of years to firstly the Women's House and then to other parts of the organisation. The contributions have been quite significant … [and] they include things like computers, an outside sail cover for our Women's House and toys.”
With the Maasai tribes in Kenya, the Foundation donated the actual reading materials, desks, pens and paper... stuff we take for granted, but which means so much to them.
The Coaching Institute Foundation, for us, is a way to being a “good business”. The Foundation was founded based on the premise of taking The Coaching Institute’s success, along with the help of our student community, and sharing it in places where we can make an impact, causes which often fall through the cracks because they are so ugly, unpopular or unseen by the people who can help. So far, the Foundation has donated generously to various causes listed above around the world.
A message from Sharon Pearson, Founder of The Coaching Institute Foundation:
"As we grew, and we made a difference to 1,000's of people's lives, I realised there was still something missing. There were so many places where the opportunity to 'Live Your Dream' was simply unavailable. There were so many people who would never know that they could pursue their own version of their purpose.
So I started The Coaching Institute Foundation.
This is really important to me. It means I am getting beyond what I do in my company, and reaching groups and individuals who would, without this support, be experiencing unnecessary hardship."
The Giving Tree
Each year, here at the TCI HQ in Melbourne, we take the opportunity during Christmas to really give back to those in real need, those who are more vulnerable and less fortunate.
We set up our 'Giving Tree' and invite all TCI students and members of the community to donate a gift that will make someone's Christmas that little bit extra special.
The Moon Bear Café
As a student, you can contribute through the our student hangout space here at The Coaching Institute campus in Melbourne. All profits from the Moon Bear Café go toward the Foundation’s charity.
