This year, TCI hosted the first ever Coach’s Live event in Melbourne.
Over a hundred people showed up – both who are already coaching and those who were curious and ready to commit.
We had an amazing line up of speakers who had a ball sharing key insights, true life stories, highs and lows of your journey as a coach.
I was there at the event weekend, taking in all they had to share. And if I had to pick a theme for Your Best Year Yet, it would be hands-down “being raw and real”.
Because that’s what the speakers morphed into right when they stepped on the “stage”.
Real people you and I can relate with.
Perfection doesn’t exist and it’s OK to stuff up. At any point in time, we're doing the best we can with the resources available to us.
And if you don’t like the reality you're creating, then you have a choice to be, do and have it the way you want.
1. change your circumstances
2. bring in new resources (internal resources, such as resilience or courage and external resources, such as time and asking for help from others)
3. model people who are out there doing it

If you’re not happy the way things are going for you, do something else. Run a different strategy. Change something in your behaviour, attitude, belief system – something, anything. What’s the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing and expecting a different result isn't going to cut it. And see how you go. Life’s about course-correcting, not perfecting.
The more we listen to it, the more insistent and louder it gets. It says, “Maybe not now. . . maybe tomorrow.” The more you listen, the more number of false reasons you start collecting about why you should listen to it even more.
If you’re naturally curious and ask questions, you are more engaged in creating a future and a more fulfilling life for yourself and your clients.
Sharon likes to tell the story behind how she got started as a coach. There was a time when she was frozen in fear and didn’t know what to do. She started asking bold questions about how those who were doing it were able to do it and replicated their system without asking any questions. She didn’t aim for perfection; she aimed to suspend her disbelief while she gave the system a go. At TCI, we are open and unapologetically “us”. We invite and encourage bring your freak on. Because let’s face it. Isn’t it beautiful to be able to embrace our inner weirdo and be OK with it? That’s what makes us human.
Also known as “modelling”, this is a classic technique of NLP and Meta Dynamics™.
Humans are naturally wired to learn every day. Our natural state is to learn. Successful coaches move away from the “memory mill” and toward learning how to think. It’s also the basis of how the Meta Dynamics™ methodology was created.
- What if that’s wrong and I can? (Be)
- What if I did, what would change? (Do)
- What if I already had that, what would I be enjoying? (Have)
Looking from the outside is deceiving. Some people seem to “have it all”. But here’s something that rarely gets acknowledged… Their hard work. Their relentlessness. Their commitment. And most importantly, their attitude toward success. So many people look at successful coaches and go, “Oh, they are lucky” or “They got it easy”. To be honest, that’s a myth. Just because it seems like an overnight success doesn’t mean that it actually was.
Find the answer, and then do exactly what they do. Study them. Observe them. Follow the system without questioning it. That’s how nature works, doesn’t it? Nature doesn’t over-analyse things. It cannot think. It does not have the liberty to decide which branch a tree should grow first. It thrives because there is trust in the process. Nature just is. Be like nature. Trust and replicate what other successful people are doing to create success in your own life.
It’s OK to have you on your list of things and express self-love.
People who love us and care about us don’t want us to change. Because change makes them uncomfortable. Yet, such certainty is safe but unresourceful in the long run.
The ego loves to create drama, because drama confuses us and keeps us “busy” and stuck so that change cannot happen. If you want something, make it simple. Eliminate complexity and go for it.
As I mentioned in #12, the ego wants to keep things superficially complicated because that prevents uncomfortable change. What’s uncomfortable in the short run is empowering in the long run.
Acknowledge the everyday privileges we take for granted. You can eat a slice of pizza, for example, and your body takes care of it all without you having to do anything. Bring an awareness of such little things that together make a big difference in life.
Your life only gets a purpose and meaning when you give back to others. The purpose of life is not to be happy; the purpose of life is to give it meaning.
To achieve lasting health, simply stop creating disease. What does that mean? A lot of illnesses, especially terminal disease such as cancer, can take up to 10 to show up in tests (which means they are under construction all this while). We're "making disease" all this time. By changing our mindset and making better choices, we can heal ourselves before a disease is discovered in the body. Every proactive action counts.
It is said that when you feel low for 8 weeks in a row, you experience depression. Same way, when you’re too self-absorbed and self-focused, you start to feel depressed because there is no purpose or meaning to life.
- Understand and help ourselves (Personal Development)
- Understand and help others (Coaching)
- Get educated in marketing and business skills (Build a coaching business so you can continue to serve others)
Be emotionally grown; have an awareness of words you’re speaking and their impact on others; become aware of your environment; learn how to run good relationships.
You create your path only once you start moving. Sitting there waiting for the ducks to line up ain’t going to cut it. Results, expansion and growth happens through movement, through action.
As Andy Andrews said, successful people make their decisions quickly and change their minds slowly. A lot of people lose that window of opportunity
