Testimonials
"Dear Sharon, Joe, Connie & TCI Support Team,
A heartfelt “thank you” for a truly transformational 7 days! TCI’s NLP Practitioner training quite literally turned my life around. No doubt about it.
I’ve been pain-free since I completed the course. That’s following 18 years of ‘doing’ fibromyalgia. I even cured myself of restless leg syndrome. If faced with a health ‘challenge’, I just ask myself “how am I doing this?” and presto it’s gone.
Controlling my ‘state’, I discovered, isn’t limited to health. The weekend following our NLP training, I put in an awesome paddle at the Corporate Games - Outrigger Canoeing held at Docklands.
Thanks to the TCI team, I’m living purposefully and with passion, creating the world I really want. My map of the world has changed irrevocably.
Now to pass that gift along...
In light & love,"

These values are extremely important to The Coaching Institute, its founder Sharon Pearson and her team who deliver nothing less than the values which they teach. John and I are both students with TCI and would not hesitate in recommending their training programs to anyone who is passionate about inspiring people through coaching to reach their full potential. <$title$>Hello Reader,
I’m back from a wonderful month in Europe with my husband and parents (yes, I mean it!) and only contacted my office the once to say hello. What I mean is, I was able to leave my business for a month, and for it to do just as well (okay, a little better) than if I was here.
The team was amazing – focused, fun and not in the least bit frazzled. We have systems that work to help answer questions, we have an operations manual that rivals MacDonalds – okay, so that’s an exaggeration – and everyone knows exactly what they need to do and why it’s important.
As well as that, we have a pretty amazing vision for ourselves, individual goals and team goals. Everyone’s attitude is “How can we make this happen”, rather than “Can this happen?”
I believe a successful business knows where it’s going, how it’s going to get there, and what has to happen along the way. It takes a committed team who share the vision and a constant focus on making it happen. Good enough cannot be good enough.
If this sounds like your business, well done! If it doesn’t, follow along with this newsletter and we’ll share some insights to help.
Warmest regards,

Sharon Pearson
CEO

Week One of the 12 Weeks to Fabulous Program!!! (Kicks off Monday 17th September)
This week we're getting the game started... Answer these questions for yourself and they'll be your goals for the next 12 weeks -
Your Mind
- What's a personal goal you've been putting off until now, that you know is important to you? What would it give you if you achieved this goal by January 1st? What would its achievement allow you to do?
- What's an area of your life you've been procrastinating in? What's it costing you to procrastinate? What would it give you if you did it?
- What's something that you deserve to give yourself, and you haven't yet? Set the goal to give it to yourself within the next 12 weeks.
Your Body
- How do you want your body to look? Is there an outfit that's a bit tight that you'd love to look fabulous in by January 1st? Do you want to see my tone on your arms? Less tucks around the tummy?
- How would you find thirty minutes five times a week? Would you need to get up earlier? Sacrifice TV time? Go walking at lunchtime?
- What's three ways you know you can improve your food choices? Is it less chocolate? Less red wine? More fruit? More vegetables? Less fried food? One more salad a day?
Your Spirit
- How have you been hiding? How have you not been shining? How have you allowed yourself to compromise?
- If your world was created by you and how you perceive yourself... what does your world tell you about how you perceive yourself?
- What do you believe holds you back from truly living your dreams?
Send us your stories and your successes and we'll post them in our monthly newsletter - this is it - let's get this party started!
Coaching Corner
By Lauri Blyth-Carter, National Support Manager
Our students are amazing – seven coaches have contacted us this week to say they have got more clients – how fabulous! The question comes up, how to get more clients…
Answer: You are your best marketing asset – your certainty, your passion and your skill is what drives your business. The most successful coaches have a real passion for what they do and the confidence to articulate what they do to potential clients. They are focused completely on the results they want, and aren’t distracted by the “noise” of what doesn’t contribute to their business.
Coaches who struggle spend way too much time on studying during the day (business hours is for business), on talking to coaches who are not successful and in being distracted and reactive to what goes on around them.
To build your confidence, talk to successful coaches – successful means coaches who earn over $100,000 per year. Listen carefully to what they see they did to achieve this success. I made sure I spoke to million dollar coaches, and that’s how I achieved the same. Who do you hang out with?
Don’t make excuses. Successful coaches have no excuses for what doesn’t happen. They do what needs to be done, especially the stuff that no one else wants to do. Successful coaches know they are 100% responsible for their results. Every time I hear myself excuse less than 100% commitment, I remember that the best results come through perseverance.
Don’t waste time being shy – shyness is another way of saying I don’t want to be responsible for how this conversation progresses. If you’re shy, the conversation will not be led by you, and you will not be able to secure the other person as a client.
If you think you’re shy, find out from someone who isn’t how they became so confident and then make a decision to do what they did. No excuses!
Be clear about what you want – nothing is more exciting than a clear vision and direction. The Coaching Institute’s vision is to be the first choice in life, executive and business coaching services and training throughout Australia. what’s your vision?
Read everything you can on your area of expertise – every wheel has already been invented, so find out how they did it.
Don’t procrastinate – procrastination is a waste of time (yes, pun intended) – the job will still have to be done once the housework, shopping and everything else is done, so get on with it first.
Do what it takes, not what makes you comfortable. Too many coaches settle for doing what they know how to do, rather than what will get them to where they need and want to be.
How to Build a Winning Team
By Sharon Pearson, CEO The Coaching Institute
A winning team is not just in the hiring – it’s in the willingness to always be fighting the gravitational pull of negativity – as a leader, or a team of leaders, your focus must constantly be on where you’re going, not on what could go wrong.
Everything from your interview and induction process through to on the job training needs to consistently say the same message – we stand for excellence, determination, persistence, resilience and results.
Your corporate statements, vision statement, points of culture – everything – must point the same direction. We stand for getting the best results we can and “good enough” is not good enough.
As the leader, you must, constantly and consistently, talk about excellence and your vision. There is no point having all the vision statements out there if you talk about average, or ordinary or “good enough”. Be a walking and talking demonstration of what you believe your business stands for.
Raise your standards. It’s a rare business that has standards high enough to pull them away from the pack – and being in the pack is business death. You must stand out from what everyone else is doing in every way that is important to your clients. Don’t ever settle for what someone else is doing – find a way to do it differently and better.
Be proud of and champion your team. Your people come first, and because they are valued, they will do what needs to be done to fulfil the business vision. Don’t only talk about sales and results, talk about who they need to be to be their best. Remember, everyone wants to succeed.
Don’t except excuses. Sometimes the pathway to excellence is tough going. It takes more effort, thought and time. That doesn’t mean you give up on it. If someone pushes back because they haven’t got time, don’t except it – everyone has time for excellence, because that’s a requirement of the job.
Deal with setbacks for what they are – temporary opportunities to improve. Everything that challenges you will improve your business if you want it to. Even a complaint is an opportunity to do things better. Take all challenges as feedback for how to do things better – not later, but right now.
Run regular meetings informing everyone of how the team is going with monthly and weekly goals. Coach the team leaders each week on how they’re going, where they’re going and how they can improve.
Delegate, don’t abdicate. It’s your business – unless you understand it, you can’t manage it.
Be committed to constant and never-ending improvement! Never settle for hearing the words “That’s how we’ve always done it.” Aahhhhhh. If there’s better way to do it, find it and act on it.
I think that’s everything The Coaching Institute includes in its cultural standards – we’re always improving it! Trust you enjoyed my thoughts on this – look forward to assisting you all in your amazing journeys!
Top Ten Ways to Achieve Excellence
1) You set the standards, not anyone else
2) If standards drop, it’s your responsibility to get them up
3) Make decisions that move you forward – don’t make decisions that keep you where you are or hold you back
4) Don’t make excuses for what doesn’t work – do it differently next time and learn
5) Everything is a learning opportunity
6) Excellence means your customers rave about you
7) Excellence means putting your purpose ahead of a process – never justify a decision because that’s how it’s always been
8) Find out who does it better and stand on their shoulders
9) Don’t procrastinate – you will feel great about your standards as long as you keep making decisions that move you forward
10) Decide to strive for excellence right now – you don’t plan this, you just do it!
