I completed my first training at the Foundations Of Coaching Success in October 2014. Before my journey began I had been going through a separation from my marriage in July 2014. With the marriage I also have 2 kids, Emily who is now 3 & Alex who is now 2. Dealing with this was challenging because at the same time I had a self employed personal training business at home plus the primary carer of the kids while my wife was running her business. (I got into personal training as a way to help others achieve their health and fitness goals after losing 28 kilos myself). When my wife left, I got a job at a local gym, but my emotional state was getting the better of me & was affecting my job. On Alex’s first birthday (22nd July) was my turning point. I only got to see him on his First Birthday for only 15mins due to the communication break down with my ex wife. My brother then suggested I see Vanessa Talbot. Vanessa worked with my brother a few years before helping him with moving forward from his marriage break down. I spoke to Vanessa that night for hours. This changed everything; Vanessa guided me & helped me move forward for 6 months. In this time I was interested in life coaching, spoke to Vanessa & then signed up with TCI. I was just doing it to help with my personal journey. As I am now in the middle of a family court battle for 50/50 with my kids this has helped me become a stronger person, helping me to be a strong man and father for my kids.
I am still working as a personal trainer at the gym which I love doing. With my life coaching I am in the niche of empowering people through separation & divorce. This is something I didn’t expect to get into but when talking to a few people going through the same or a similar situation I felt I could help them move forward. My business name is Johnny M.
In November 2014 I was referred to a young man who was going through life difficulties with party drugs and relationships. I spoke to him & he ended up being my first paying client – only 2 months from my intake weekend. I worked with him for 6 sessions in which he improved so much & forwarded me a killer testimonial.
I would still like to keep my personal training going but would mainly like to be on the coaching side, as this will work in with me when I have my kids. I would like to run workshops, webinars & help people one on one with the journey of separation & divorce. To do this full time would be a dream.
I attribute my success firstly with getting help from Vanessa Talbot, this was the start of my journey, and I’m not sure where I would be now if I hadn’t made that choice to get the help. Now 12 months on I still keep in touch with Vanessa but also I attribute my success to my personal journey of just focusing on developing my coaching skills, bettering my personal skills & keep on moving forward each day again for me & my kids. With the end goal in mind of having a thriving coaching business that is cantered on empowering the other underdogs of divorce and separation, while also enabling me to be the best hands on dad for my kids.
