I started my coaching journey in late 2012. My history is as a small business owner of a photography studio. I had grown the studio from part time home based business to a full studio with staff. In 2011 I started running workshops and found that teaching about business and mindset really excited me. So I signed up to TCI to learn the skills to really assist others in business.
During my first year I must admit that I found the juggle of running my existing business alongside developing my coaching very challenging. There were some months where I just didn’t look at the coaching side of things at all. I had to restructure my business so that I was able to do both without burning out. That was a lesson learned the hard way!
During that year I applied all of the coaching principles and strategies to myself and my business. I believe that if you are going to challenge your clients you have to be willing to do the same yourself. The results were amazing. I was named ‘best business leader’ at the business awards, as well as taking out 3 other major awards – business of the year, people’s choice award and winner of professional services category. Without a doubt, coaching works. Even when it is self-coaching! So armed with the confidence that the principles I was going to share were amazing and that they worked, I made the commitment that in 2014 I would find a way to make both my businesses work. My passion for helping to create success for other business owners was reignited and I would find a way to make it work.
I still work within my photography business, I now outsource as much as I can and have developed clear procedures and policies so much of the work can be done without me. My office is now private so that I can coach and do my trainings from there. I announced a ‘12 week business bootcamp’ which is a webinar series for women in business. It is now fully booked with 25 attendees and starts next week. It was fully booked well before the bootcamp began. I am now regularly coaching clients and have been approached to run trainings within a large organisation to boost staff motivation, as well as running photography and business workshops.
The coaching and mentoring journey has been so rewarding already and even before getting out there and working with others, the benefits of doing this course are worth it all. My 5 year goal is to be speaking at events for women in business as well as running my own training programs. I would like to be coaching around 6 clients at a time. I am limiting to that number as I love running the 2 businesses and that’s the perfect amount for me without overdoing it! I currently have 2 clients and will continue to outsource more of my photography work as the numbers increase (which seems to be happening very quickly!)
I am looking forward to becoming an NLP practitioner this year. The power of the mind has always fascinated me and to now be learning so much about that is so exciting.
My business is ‘Inspire Life Strategies’ and as far as what I would attribute my success to….it would have to be 2 things – the ability to see how each ‘problem’ is really presenting me a new opportunity, and the determination to keep going no matter what.
