MJ moves from failing Network Marketer to over $85,000 Business Profit

Before my involvement with The Coaching Institute I was running two businesses with a limited level of success, one as a network marketer with a Japanese wellness company. I had also just started to work as a freelance workshop facilitator in leadership development and personal skills development.

I was doing OK, and looking for ways to expand my capacity to make more of a difference and earn more money.

I had considered life and executive coaching around 2004, but never really found an organization that I wanted to be associated with.

In August 2008 I decided to research the market again for coach training providers, went online and immediately found The Coaching Institute (I know now that was because of their marketing and SEO strategies …).

I liked what I saw on their website, which was easy to read, with no jargon. I sent an email that night and was promptly contacted by a staff member the next day, which impressed me. We had a quite casual chat and I found out some more details, but mostly the conversation was about me and what I wanted to achieve. No selling at all- which honestly surprised me at the time.

Two days later I got a book written by Sharon Pearson in the mail, with a personal dedication to me in Sharon’s handwriting. Now that did truly impress me. I was also invited on an introductory call, focused on goal setting and let by Sharon herself. That was a great experience. I remember not being able to sleep very well that night because I felt so excited about the possibilities that were opening up from becoming a coach and being involved with The Coaching Institute!

I must say I did investigate a couple of other coach training schools in Australia, as I thought I needed to do my due diligence. However, the choice was very quickly made. With regards to the quality and depth of the programs offered and very importantly the follow up of me as a potential customer, The Coaching Institute far exceeded what anybody else was doing (or not doing…).

I decided to start with the Advanced Practitioner Program and did my Intake Weekend in October 2008 - in the weekend of my 51st birthday… a massive chocolate birthday cake was part of training! And what a great training it was! Having done a lot of personal and professional development work over the last 25 years, both as a participant and as a facilitator, I was not expecting to get as much out of it as I did, both for my own life as well as a great basis for my coaching career. What surprised me was that from day 1 the focus was not only on coaching skills but also on the business building and specifically marketing aspects of being a coach. After all, what’s the point of being a great coach when you do not know how to attract and sign clients.

That was the start of a great journey. I upgraded to Diploma a few months later and kept on being impressed with the quality of the program offered, its different components and how they fit together. Let me give a few examples.

  • I love the ‘triad’ system, where students in groups of three coach each other and get mentored by two experienced coaches. That system works very well from a development perspective, as the feedback is instant, personal and can be build on and used immediately. I now work as a mentor for The Coaching Institute, which is a very rewarding experience and a great way to contribute to the next generation of students.
  • The NLP Practitioner 7 day training was a revelation and taught me so much about myself AND gave me an impressive new skill set to use with clients. And that is exactly what I did ever since completing  NLP – at times astounding myself with the power of the technology.
  • Having been in the training & development field for 24 years I expected the Train the Trainers 4 day Intensive to be something that was mainly familiar to me. Was I wrong or what?. The way the program is set up in layers of learning is fabulous. The combination of adult learning principles with NLP based presentation techniques is very powerful- and fun to do! I have told many people since how I consider this 4 days to be the best skills training I have ever experienced.

After 7 months I signed up to the new Mastermind. Participating in that year long program has shown me new ways to build a business. I am now working on several strategies to create residual income into 6 figures from my current business, and another niche I am developing.

17 months after my intake weekend my company Sourceful Transition has

  • turned over $85,000 in facilitation and coaching contracts
  • 4 medium to large organizations/companies for whom we are the go-to person for their leadership development  and team building programs as well as executive coaching
  • a few dozen satisfied small business owners, managers and private individuals who I assisted to achieve their goals and intentions through supporting, challenging and guiding them to create the changes they are looking for, logging almost 300 coaching hours in the process
  • a growing online presence
  • an expanding number of services online and offline

The support and attitude of the staff is really out of this world, as is their commitment to Constant and Never Ending Improvement. Their innovative thinking and acting is inspiring.  I feel privileged to be associated with The Coaching Institute .
