Before I started my coaching journey, I worked in banking running large, technology change programs as a project and change manager. I am passionate about helping people in business embrace change, especially technological change, which can be quite daunting.

So I enrolled in the Diploma program in 2011 to learn more about coaching to improve my skills in this area. I was also very curious about NLP and how it could help the people I worked with. And me!

After specialising in coaching people working in projects and change (and loving it!), it was time for some change of my own. My long-time friend Priya and I decided to join forces. We combined my coaching skills and Priya’s web and social media talents to form a joint venture called That Online Stuff to help small businesses and solopreneurs with their online presence.

I’d reached a fork in the road, having made a clean break from my “old life”. I arrived in Australia in late 2008, knowing no-one, with my baby girl, Mira. I settled on the Sunshine Coast – a single mum, with very limited finances.

I work full time in health and emergency services, and am the proud solo supporter of two beautiful girls, 17 and 5. At the time I was caught up in allowing myself to be the victim of my circumstances ~ I created beliefs about myself that were inconsistent with how I wanted people to see me as (the real Sarah Adamson). I was involved in self-sabotaging behaviours that did not serve, support, and nurture or challenge me – they simply allowed me to divest myself of responsibility and to play the blame game. When I joined The Coaching Institute on 17th August, 2011 it was on a journey of personal development and a belief that I had some skills that may be able to assist others to become the best they could be. I realised that I had created a reality that I no longer wanted to identify with anymore, and if I truly believed in 100% responsibility, that it was my choice to propel forward to the success I desired.

My intake weekend was in August 2009. Before I joined I started from a place of depression. I had the best job in the world but still couldn’t be happy. I was very much all or nothing and the nothing times were hell. I wasn’t even compelled to get out of bed. I came to The Coaching Institute to deal with my depression. Not only did I get my ‘X’ but I have been given the whole alphabet as well! It’s called the instruction manual to my brain. And now it’s interesting. I no longer measure myself with regard to clients or what my certification is. I am due to do Master Practitioner next month, NLP Trainers Training next year and am new to Mastermind but that doesn’t matter anymore. It’s all the fun along the way. I am already and always have been a coach. We all are when we give.

I started with TCI in July 2011 when I did my intake weekend. I started from being very stuck and had been for a very long time. No matter how many times I changed companies, I was still basically in the same role and very unhappy. I was also filled with beliefs about lack of self-worth and I was forever trying to please people so that they would let me feel like I deserved to be alive. I now love this new-found confidence and I love being alive and fully believe that I deserve to be here on the planet. I am 50 years old and finally doing what really makes me happy.

I started my coaching journey in May 2010. A huge turning point for me was getting my first paying client 5 months in and then getting a word of mouth referral from her a few weeks later. I grew so much in certainty and the fact that I am an outstanding coach right now. It also made my business seem real and the reward of being paid for my coaching meant a lot.

I now have 3 papers to go in my course. I just completed my Workshop and my product is in production. I wrote a book "The 7 Ultimate Secrets to Weight Loss", which I’m really looking forward to promoting my book and seeing it become an International Best Seller.

I enrolled as an advanced practitioner student in November 2010 and did my intake in February 2011. I had a pause between enrolling and doing the intake because I had family visiting from the UK over Christmas. TCI were really supportive of this.

I’m still very much at the beginning but I’ve come a very long way! After the intake weekend in Feb I was buzzing for weeks, actually this was the adrenalin kicking in and it soon wore off and I got into a ‘normal routine’ of working full time in my current non-coaching job, and coaching, studying, reading, networking and so on in my ‘spare time’.

(Tough challenge I know!) In 3 weeks since attending Mastermind I’ve secured not only my old income level, but all my Mastermind fees as well as my complete Coach training fees and more; all while doing something that’s giving me meaning and a sense of growth. I’m having the most fun I’ve had in many, many years and the journey is only just beginning.
