Connecting to my emotions and my cause

When I finished Foundations of Coaching Success there was a number of us who formed long-term relationships, we connected on Facebook and currently continue supporting each other as we build our businesses. My proudest moment is being a part of that

"One might be surprised how many friends you can find by attending FOCS"

Also the great supporters you find in the WOW team and the rest of the school. You're not alone on the journey, that's one of the biggest things about FOCS, you get to connect with people with whom you resonate with and who see things about you that you don’t.

“I had just came out of a deep depression and being suicidal”

What were you doing when you came across TCI?

I actually had an emotional trauma after I left a team of 150 of staff which I have built for 7 years. I managed a supermarket of 150 staff, $500K in turnover, $3K customers a day. We were the only IGA supermarket in the country to not lose market share to a new Coles, refurbished Coles, and a brand new Woolworths within 10K of our door.

We did not lose one cent because of the model and the structures we used. Someone above me was hired and I didn’t agree with him based on my personal principles, which were rooted in giving, community, customer service.

I had to walk away.

I didn’t realise the emotional trauma of walking away from the team I built. That sent to me to depression and towards suicide.

I ended up on anti-depressants for 23 days, which made me worse. One day, I told myself that I needed to get a job, so I sat down and I applied for to Jetstar as a baggage controller.

I wrote out my application and from one moment to the next, I couldn’t remember what I wrote.

The drugs stopped me from remembering.

Then, a friend rang me up and said: “We are going to see Michael Johnson the Mojo master, he’s got a one day event in personal development, would you like to come?”

Next morning, I felt like shit and didn’t feel like going. Fetal position in bed, didn’t want to face the world. I got a text from Michael's sister, so I chose to get out of bed.

Turned up and it was the best thing I ever did!

I sat in a room of 150 people, I connected with what he was saying and I noticed that my emotional pain was decreased by next morning.

I booked in a coaching session, where I realised I was feeling guilt from leaving the team. When I was a kid I didn’t have names for emotions.

As I named the feelings, the pain started decreasing.

I balanced negative emotions with positive ones.

How did TCI come into your radar?

It came into my radar late 2014 through Facebook, and in 2016 I started seriously looking at it.  When I went to the Mojo course I realised I needed to change my life, my skills, release a lot of bullshit from my life, and decided that the coaching pathway is along that line. I called up TCI. Got a free book and a disc. I read the book, which I thought was cool. Over 6 months I spoke with a number of TCI people about where I need to be and I attended a Saturday morning broadcast on a Saturday morning. Foundations of Coaching Success was offered for a $300 holding fee so I thought, why not?

Went to FOCS, and that’s where I started TCI journey.

Joe Pane was great. I created some really great relationships, yet powerful emotional challenges came up on the last day. Found myself sitting in the back room, crying.

Dealing with more of my internal emotional issues.

Matt and I sat down, in another room where he was training in. I recognized that all these people told me how amazing I am but I didn’t believe it. As a person, I didn’t see what was so amazing about me.

Did you recognize that your mission has the potential to change many men's lives?

Yeah. I have.

And, what was then the experience of your TCI journey?

TCI journey has given me a different set of skills to add to the tools I already used on myself. It has given me an understanding of what those tools are, how they work how they interact to help people. One of the greatest failings of men's trainings is that we're keen to train men on what we think they need, not what they actually need. So my goal is to train from the perspective of what they need and not what I want to train them. TCI has given me tools to mind-read what goes on in training rooms.

What are you working on now?

I am working on founding a men's mental health centre. Online and offline, subscription based, set at 55 dollars for month, which delivers training through podcasts, webinars, and video training. Men can have one-on-one support and come to a training with group support. In my hometown Cannes there is a large group of men with mental health issues, from all kinds of cultures. Market really needs help so I want to give them the opportunity to come into the training room and connect with me. I want to make global impact, so I need to create a global presence through webinars in order to reach a wider audience. Since I put it out there, I have connected with guys in America and guys in UK who like what I do. I just offered a free podcast and a free retreat next month so I'll long it for one hour and chat about self-discovery. Without TCI, I would not have this opportunity.

“The Coaching Institute has given me business skills and support. I know I can ring up when I'm having a hard time, or when I know I need extra tools, look up the events calendar and come to business skills training. Or, log into Member's area and get an instant solution. So the training from that perspective has been really good . . .”

How is TCI helping you with your purpose and your mission?

It's given me business skills and support. I know I can ring up and say I am having a hard time with this, or when I know I need extra tools, look up the events calendar and come to business skills training, for example. Or, log into Member's area and get an instant solution. So the training from that perspective has been really good. For me, it's a matter of always adding skills. I have only scratched the surface of what's available and I am sitting on the ground level of learning. What's available to us is incredible. What Sharon puts across is so different from what my other coaches and trainers do.

What is your proudest moment so far, since you have been with TCI?

When I finished Foundations of Coaching Success there was a number of us who formed long-term relationships, we connected on Facebook and currently continue supporting each other as we build our businesses. My proudest moment is being a part of that. One might be surprised how many friends you can find by attending FOCS. Also the great supporters you find in the WOW team and the rest of the school. You're not alone on the journey, that's one of the biggest things about FOCS, you get to connect with people with whom you resonate with and who see things about you that you don’t.

So I hear that community is really important to you.

Yeah community has been great, really supportive. I have gotten an answer to a problem or an issue really fast.

In your wildest dreams, what would you be creating in the next 5 to 10 years?

Studying with 5000 men, talking about mental health issues, 30,000 people connecting Facebook to my training worldwide, 3 in-house trainings a week, and creating wonderful content. Now I just have to do it!
