I get to talk to many people each day and I still find it amazing that each person’s results are a direct reflection of the relationship they have with themselves. Have you met someone where things seem to always going wrong for them, the world is against them and nothing ever goes right. Then, have you met someone where things always go right for them, they have wins all the time and they always get a great result. How we interact with and experience the outside world is a direct reflection of the relationship we have with ourselves.
Getting to know yourself and understanding why we do what we do, can be the catalyst for success. If we understand ourselves and how we create our world, we can then change what we don’t like to change our results. I believe this is a journey, and we never get to the point when we know enough. It’s an ongoing journey to knowing ourselves and the more we learn the better we get at determining the experiences of our life.
This month’s theme is therefore on our relationship with ourselves. There can’t be anything more important than knowing the most important person in the world... You!!

Having just been to the Anthony Robbins Event two weeks ago now, I have been on the greatest high. As I was sitting (not for very long, most of the time was spent standing or jumping) in the event I was in awe, as this man is a genius. Since then I have noticed in every area of my life, that understanding the core of what he teaches, determines the success of your relationships with yourself and others.
This is most easily identifiable in your most intimate relationships. Anthony says, that EVERY human being, regardless of race, culture, age and sex, all have six core needs in order to achieve happiness. They are Certainty, Variety, Significance, Connection & Love, Contribution and Growth. Whilst the first four are required for survival, the last two are more spiritual, and the level at which you meet the last two, (so long as the first 4 are met) will determine your level of happiness.
The catch with the first four, is that when you look closer at them, the first two, are polar opposites, and so are number three and four. So whilst you are (unconsciously) working like crazy to achieve a level of certainty, you are not going to be experiencing much variety and vice versa. Whilst you are trying to be significant and stand out from the crowd, you are not connecting with others and vice versa. So life is a constant see-saw of meeting all of these needs consistently.
The next catch with these needs, is that you can achieve meeting these needs with positive behavior or negative behavior. Think about it, you can feel significant if you are doing a presentation to a group of people about something you are an expert in, and they want to be or you can also feel significant to a person, if you pull a gun on them in a dark alley way. Both meet the need, however one is positive behavior and one is negative behavior.
Now, take it to the next level. We all have needs in an intimate relationship, the top two being the most important. In the beginning our senses are heightened and we are so excited we are meeting all our partner’s needs all of the time. Then life seems to take over again, and we settle back into the normal way of life, rushing around busy doing lots of busyness, which means we relax, and don’t make as much of an effort. When this happens, we revert to only meeting our top 2 needs for our partner. So if your needs are certainty and connection & love, you will continue to meet certainty and connection & love for your partner.
The problem is if your partner’s two top needs are not certainty and connection & love but instead are significance and variety, you’re not going to be meeting their two main needs at all, which will cause a rift in the relationship. If left undealt with, this can lead to the termination of the relationship. So understanding yourself and your top two needs is key to your success in everything else outside of you.
To do this ask yourself the following questions:
Do I need certainty over variety?
Is certainty more important than significance?
Is certainty more important than Love and Connection
Is certainty more important than Growth?
Is certainty more important than Contribution?
Do this with each need, to establish the two most important needs you have. Now you have an awareness of them, you can choose to meet them positively.
When you know your top two needs and meet them in a positive manner, the world is your oyster!

Who Is The Most Dangerous Person In The World?

Let’s think about this for a moment.
All those times you stepped into an elevator and there were people there, they all looked away, at the mere sound of your footsteps and sensing of your body heat.
All those times you have walked down the supermarket aisle or down the street, they all avoided your gaze at the sight of you and presence and sound of you.
All those times you were at the petrol station. As you looked across the car roof tops there were others seemingly like you doing the same thing. Just as you looked at them they avoided your gaze by finding the flipping numbers at their bowser safer to look at.
All those times when you were in a public bathroom facility, the silence as you entered, dare not make a noise or else will be noticed – by you.
This all happens because you are the most dangerous person in the world! In fact everyone is scared of everyone. It’s like waking up in the morning and getting scared of your hands!
Remember this next time you go to a networking event, or the next time you are delivering a keynote speech or workshop.
If you are the most dangerous person in the world then so is everybody else! Everyone is scared of every one! Isn’t that amazing!!!
So I say go forward in love and with a great smile – at least you won’t be perceived as the most dangerous person in the world then. Who knows they may even smile back and talk to you! Now wouldn’t that be scary?
